Welcome to the Gallery of internationally renowned Equine and Animal portrait artist Maureen Shelleau.
Her award winning work is sought by Equine and Animal art collectors from around the globe.
Featured here is her previously commissioned Portraits and available Limited edition prints.
Maureen's Love and close association with horses, animals and art began in her early childhood. Horses, pets and animals of all kinds are still a major part of her life.
Through her years of owning, loving and rescuing horses and all animals that cross her path, her respect, admiration and intimate knowledge of the animals has been the influential inspiration of her artwork. Maureen believes that as an artist she must while appreciating the beauty, know when to improvise on that perfection to make an artistic statement.
"A horse is not just a flashy, elegant or beautiful creature that graces the wild frontiers, or thunders down the finish stretch. That is just the giftwrap around a complex foundation of bone, muscle and an intriguingly deep and sensitive thought process that interacts to form the entire essence of the horse.
We as artists must posses the passion to learn and understand this foundation and how it operates. Then, perhaps, we can accurtely depict and capture the dynamic poses, gestures, expressions and movements that the horse is capable of performing."
